The time has come when running has evolved from a trendy hobby into a true lifestyle. Every runner pursues their own goal -- from getting healthier and losing weight to completing a marathon or finishing an Ironman. But for everyone, those minutes alone with yourself hold a certain magic.
It is the time when you listen to yourself and tune into your body, when you are alone with your thoughts, when you can ignore phone calls and disconnect from reality without noticing time passing. Or, on the contrary, you can listen to an interesting podcast or audiobook, brainstorm an idea, or find a solution to a problem during your run.
Feeling good -- run. Feeling down -- run even more. You will come back from your run a different person.
Having been involved in various sports all my life, I have always run, and to this day a morning run remains my source of inspiration. It is a cure for all ailments -- your dietitian, your cosmetologist, and your therapist all in one.
But, as you might expect, not everything comes easy from the first step or the first kilometer. Especially if you are over 30 and the last time you ran was in a PE class at school.
You can certainly run on your own after reading a couple of books, diving into the subject, and doing your research. I know people who started on their own and continue running by instinct, earning nothing but my respect. However, most of us are naturally inclined toward inertia -- not everyone has the time to dig deep into the science of proper, healthy running. And we all know perfectly well that with a teacher or coach, you can achieve results significantly faster and more safely.
