Ironman, 70.3, Olympic and sprint training

How long you need depends on your base in each sport, your health and your schedule. I will give you a timeline after our intro call and a fitness check.

3.8 · 180 · 42.2 km

Ironman

Volume builds gradually, and we rehearse race fuelling early so the marathon after the bike does not turn into survival.

1.9 · 90 · 21.1 km

Ironman 70.3

The most popular goal for amateurs. It fits around a full-time job: 6–9 hours of training a week.

from 0.75 · 20 · 5 km

Olympic and sprint

A first race or a new personal best. Speed, transitions and pacing on every leg.

from zero

Your first triathlon

You can run, but open water scares you or you have never ridden in a group. Almost everyone starts here.

Getting used to open water

Three sports, one plan

The classic amateur mistake is training swim, bike and run as three separate sports. I build them together so the load does not stack up and break you.

Swim

Video technique review, pool sessions and open water skills: mass starts, sighting and the wetsuit.

Bike

Heart rate or power based sessions, long rides and the indoor trainer when you cannot ride outside.

Run

Running on tired legs off the bike, brick sessions and a pace you can hold to the finish.

Transitions and fuelling

Transition practice, a food and fluid plan for the course and a race strategy for every leg.

How online triathlon coaching works

  1. Intro call

A free chat about your race, your experience in each sport, your schedule and past injuries.

  2. Fitness check

I look at your watch and bike computer data and set zones for all three sports.

  3. Weekly plan

Every session in TrainingPeaks, built around your work, family and pool access.

  4. Review and adjust

I review your sessions and rebuild the week when life changes the plan.

Not sure where to start?

Take the check: 9 questions, 90 seconds. I will see your situation and reply with something useful.

Take the 90-second check
“Like most people, my first attempts at triathlon were without a coach: I downloaded a plan and tried to train on my own. My results barely improved. Fortunately, I realized the need for a systematic approach in time and reached out to Inna.”

FAQ

Can I start triathlon if I am a weak swimmer?
Yes, many people start that way. We work on swimming from week one: video technique review, breathing and endurance in the water. By race day you will swim your distance calmly.
How long does it take to train for an Ironman?
It is very individual: it depends on your base in each sport, your health, schedule and goal. I will give you an honest timeline after our intro call and a fitness check.
How many hours a week do I need to train?
Sprint and Olympic: 5–7 hours a week is enough. Ironman 70.3: usually 6–9. Full Ironman: 10–14 in peak weeks. The plan is built around your real schedule, not the other way round.
Do I need an expensive bike and gear?
Not for your first race. A road bike in good working order, a GPS watch with heart rate and a wetsuit (you can rent one) are enough. I will tell you what is worth buying as we go.
How does online triathlon coaching work?
Every week you get a plan in TrainingPeaks for all three sports. Your watch syncs automatically, I review the data and adjust the next week.
How much does an online triathlon coach cost?
From $150 a month. Video technique review, messenger support and race strategy are part of the PRO plan at $200. See the pricing page for a comparison.
